XRF analysis shows the metal content as 98.99% nickel, 0.73% iron and 0.28% copper, which backs up the respective opinions given by Peter Mitchell and Randy Weir when describing the Pridmore and Fore coins.

In an attempt to align the shapes of the flans of the 2- and 1-anna denominations in the wake of the introduction of the former as a lozenge-shaped cupro-nickel coin in 1918, the Finance Department instructed the Calcutta mint to prepare patterns of the latter coin in 1921, but a change in shape for currency purposes was not proceeded with
