Albert Pearson Spencer (1887-1967), engraver, worked for John Pinches in London from 1909 to 1922, then freelanced at the Royal Mint in London in 1923-4 before being employed there full-time. Resigning in December 1925, he took up the position of artist engraver at the Calcutta mint in January 1926, remaining in post until June 1945. Several coins from Spencer’s collection were acquired by Pridmore prior to the former’s death (cf. Pridmore, BNJ 1968, pp.158-9)
